George is a small and quick, dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp, strong features,Lennie his opposite, a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders.They have just come from the town of Weed in Northern California where Lennie had gotten into some sort of trouble, forcing them to flee south.There they are now looking for new work on a ranch.

I can identify with the main characters when:

Even if in the times of trouble George was still beside Lennie helping him and taking responsibility for him.It was the story about their friendship.

Description of the supporting characters

Candy an aging ranch handyman, Candy lost his hand in an accident and worries about his future on the ranch. Fearing that his age is making him useless, he seizes on George’s description of the farm he and Lennie will have, offering his life’s savings if he can join George and Lennie in owning the land.
Carlson a ranch-hand, Carlson complains bitterly about Candy’s old, smelly dog. He convinces Candy to put the dog out of its misery. When Candy finally agrees, Carlson promises to execute the task without causing the animal any suffering. Later, George uses Carlson’s gun to shoot Lennie.
Curley is the boss’s son,he is a confrontational, mean-spirited, and aggressive young man who seeks to compensate for his small stature by picking fights with larger men.He is recently married, Curley is plagued with jealous suspicions and is extremely possessive of his flirtatious young wife.
Slim a highly skilled mule driver and the acknowledged “prince” of the ranch, Slim is the only character who seems to be at peace with himself.A quiet, insightful man, Slim alone understands the nature of the bond between George and Lennie, and comforts George at the novel’s tragic ending.

Ill Setting

Of Mice and Men was set in Salinas River south of Soledad.
The setting made the story exciting.It reflected the importance of the main characters.

IV Plot: The Action/Summary of What Happened in the Story

George and Lennie flee from south.
They stayed beside the river side to rest for the night.
They traveled in the morning going to the ranch.
They met the boss and the other workers and they met the son of the boss.
Candy started to talk about Curley to George.
George thanks Slim for giving Lennie a puppy.
Lennie comes into the bunkhouse, attempting to conceal his puppy from George.
Lennie and Carlson come back from the barn, and Carlson starts to clean his gun.
Lennie sits in the hay and strokes his dead puppy.
Quietly Curley's wife enters the barn and walks up to Lennie.
Carlson comes running in his gun has been stolen. Thinking Lennie stole it, the men become even more intent on killing Lennie.
George raises the gun and brings it to the back of Lennie's head.
Lennie lay on the ground, unmoving. He dies instantly.
George throws the gun away as the men crash through the brush.

V Theme

The author is trying to say that it is bad to judge a person without knowing him and if he really have done a bad thing.It is also trying to say that you must understand those people who has an ill in mind.
The book showed me not to judge easily a person and understand those who have an illness problem in mind and in actions.
The problem in the story that the two main characters encountered was on how to escape Lennie from the people who are trying to put him on jail because of a misfortune judgment they solved it by escaping the south and finding a new job in the ranch.

VI Evaluation of the Book

I really loved the story because it was all about the friendship of Lennie and George and how George cared and take responsibility for Lennie.And it showed me and realized me not to judge people directly.
